< Infopause: "Chicago Carless" / >

When my wife Pollyanna and I lived in Chicago last July and enjoyed a 31-day walking-only carbon offset, our apartment was straight across the river from the Marina City towers (the famous "corn cobs" that appear in dozens of Chicago-set movies). Sitting out on our 13th floor balcony, we wondered what the apartments there were like, and a quick Google search turned up journalism-quality information about the place from a great blog called Chicago Carless. Mike Doyle, who writes the blog, has been a Marina City resident for several years—but more important is this little section from his bio:

"A committed transit rider in any town, Mike has refused to learn to drive for 37 years. And counting."

For Mike's rationale, click here. Superheroes do exist in real life.
